The head coach of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Hector Bidoglio described this as the right time to drop goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli in the starting line-up against Melaka United FC yesterday to gain playing minutes.
For the first time, Haziq was given the trust to line up in the starting line-up in the league this season, replacing the main goalkeeper, Farizal Marlias.
However, explained Bidoglio, this 24-year-old goalkeeper needs to be given the opportunity to get playing minutes on the league stage and it is proven, Haziq has done a satisfactory job to help the team win 4-0.
“We know how important Farizal is for us in the team but we also need a young goalkeeper like Haziq for him to get minutes.
“So, tonight (yesterday) is the best opportunity for him to perform because we know what will happen if something undesirable happens.
“And at least we have a goalkeeper like Haziq who is always ready, that’s why we brought him down,” he explained.
After the 4-0 victory over Malacca yesterday, the Argentinian-born coach wants this excellent momentum to continue against Selangor FC, this Saturday, which will certainly be the best preparation before facing the FA Cup final on September 10.
What is certain, he is aware of the priority to determine the best eleven in action while describing the action against Selangor as important enough to achieve continuous victory.
- “We will evaluate from day to day to see how each of our players is doing.
- “At JDT, we always prioritize to ensure that the best players will perform on the field.
- “We will look back at these players to face Selangor and also prepare to fight Terengganu”, he said.
- With the three points achieved by JDT, the team remains at the top of the league with 41 points so far while Melaka United is in eighth place.
